OVERVIEW MAP

Park
in a larger map

In June, 2008 our group of 2 paddlers embarked on an 9 day canoe adventure through portions of Wabakimi Provincial Park. Travelling by train from Armstrong Ontario to our put-in at Allanwater Bridge, we paddled 150km across the southern portion of the park along the Allanwater River, through Brennan Lake, Granite Lake, Wabakimi Lake, Smoothrock Lake, and Caribou Lake to Little Caribou Lake where we took-out at the southern most shore.

Hey, four of us (including me) are looking into canoeing this route in mid September this year and have a couple of questions. First of all, thank you so much for posting this great information. We are very excited to partake in this adventure.

From map 8, do you paddle east into open water which reaches map 9? I have noticed that the purple markers were missing on this such map.

Also, from your end point, were you able to portage all your gear back to Armstrong, or did you have a pre planned pick up? Is the portage doable?

We will be catching the train back from Armstrong.

Hey, we are thinking about doing this trip, but maybe starting below Allanwater, somewhere in Brightsand PP. How many km's were you doing between your campsite roughly per day? and how roughly how many portages did you encounter?

thanks
Adam

Hello. Thanks for the info.

I am considering doing an 8 day trip in Wabakimi this summer.

I am wondering how many days this trip was, and how many km?

Thanks.

Hi, I have been thinking about doing this trip this upcoming spring/ summer. I was just curious what the difficulty of the trip is due to bringing a couple new comers this year.

Very informative and helpful.. We are looking at a trip next Spring - starting at Smoothrock Lake - flying in from Armstrong and paddling back. Do you have any suggestions on what air service to use?

Thank you!

Pete, I privately emailed you some details
